Rev Pro – X Anniversary Night 1 20/08/22 – 3.5⭐

A weekend of wrestling in York Hall, despite the train strikes we made it. Always excited to see Ospreay wrestle live, along with Jacobs, Aussie Open and Speedball this was a very fun show. It did well as a stand alone show and built towards tomorrow night’s show as well.

Connor Mills Vs Tony Deppen – 3.5⭐

The opening match was a great way to work the crowd. As much as I think Mills should lean more into the heel side, Deppen was near perfect.

From throwing a fans hat into the balcony, to distracting the ref he got great heat. The two shared the offence evenly, with Deppen hitting a sick looking stomp kick with mills caught up in the corner.

After a couple near falls, Mills got Deppen up on his shoulders hitting a torture rack drop to get the win. A fun match to get the crowd hot.

Maya Matthews Vs Chantel Jordan – 2.5⭐

The fight for the future, Matthews and Jordan put on a good match and showcased what they could do. I think Matthews could be a great struggling babyface fighting for a title.

They had a couple moments of miscommunication but recovered well. Both hit some nice reversals and back and forth.

Jordan won with a package tombstone piledriver. It was a good match and refreshing to see two new women. I still think they need to showcase the division more however.

Luke Jacobs (c) Vs Francesco Akira – Undisputed British Cruiserweight Championship – 4⭐

This was a great match! Jacobs gets better every time I see him. Akira also has improved his heel work in my opinion. The match started with Akira avoiding Luke’s chops and working the back.

Eventually Jacobs connected and his chops rock. Halfway through the match kicked into another great and didn’t slow down. There was a great top rope frankensteiner from Akira, which led into the two trading suplex variations.

Akira hit his running knees to a very near fall, building to the final. Jacobs caught him in mid air to hit a power bomb, locked in the sleeper hold and Akira passed out to get the win. A fantastic end sequence to a great match.

Yota Tsuji Vs Shota Umino – Strap Match – 2.5⭐

This to me was the only big misstep of the night. A very gimmicky match that was more angle than match. But the worst thing was Yota not coming out to the Legions music, just its intro. I hope they haven’t changed the theme.

Shota was rushed on stage by Lucian Phillips, hitting a DDT on him, then charged the ring to take down Yota. There were a couple of fun moments, including the two tug of war between the ring post, Shota pulling Yota and Gideon into the steel.

Yota carried Umino around while hitting each corner, as Shota would too hit the corners (shades of the Cryme Tyme strap match). As they got to the final corner, Shota pulled Tsuji away, to hit the final corner and win. The end saw Shota whipping Gideon, hopefully ending this feud now. I think one of the main issues was the strap whips weren’t loud enough, making it not seem that painful.

Destination Everywhere Vs Aussie Open – Strong Openweight Tag Team Championship – 3.5⭐

Once again, I love Aussie Open, and their ability to react to the crowd, whether they’re being cheered or booed. Destination Everywhere made their entrances separately, adding to their descension story.

Mills started the match, and got worked over by both Davis and Fletcher. Even avoiding tagging Oku at one point. After some more double teams, mills eventually got Oku in on a fantastic hot tag, and the crowd erupted.

The highlight for me was Davis hitting a massive top rope piledriver on Mills for a near fall. The end came after Oku tagged himself in, to get hit with a double superkick after a springboard into the ring. Aussie Open got the win after hitting the Cornelius effect on Oku. A great match and furthers the split story for destination Everywhere, but they need to pull the trigger on it soon as it’s gone on for a very long time now.

Will Ospreay Vs Mike Bailey – 4⭐

This crowd was HOT for Ospreay, with “F*** Okada” chants ringing around York Hall. These two soaked in all the chants before locking up, and receiving all the love, Ospreay didn’t go full heel (yet).

These two can move between the ropes! All the speed and reversals and … dives. The match felt like it was built around one move, speedballs moonsault double knees. He kept trying to hit it in different places, and Ospreay kept reversing it. One time bailey landed both his knees, onto Ospreay’s knees and bounced him off, this looked awesome. He finally hit it onto Ospreay from the top rope.

The match finished after Ospreay hitting a middle rope tombstone for a near fall, hidden blade for a near fall, and eventually stormbreaker to get the win. A fantastic match putting both guys over.

The post match had Ospreay address the Okada chants, saying we better give him that when he comes to the UK. Calling out RKJ for him to come out fully suited. This began a great beat down angle with Akira and Aussie Open all coming down, nailing RKJ in the face with their respective belts, busting him open.

A great show and first installment of the weekend!

Purpose Wrestling – March of the Dogs 08/07/22 – 2.5⭐

Back in the library! This was a fun show with multiple comedy moments, a title unveiling and one of my new favourite wrestlers in Bullit.

The 87 Vs East City Sovereigns – 2.5⭐

The opening match was a great way to get the crowd involved and set the pace for the night. The East City Sovereigns came out to a lot of boos and worked them from then on.

The two teams had a good tag match, sharing the offence nearly 50/50. ECS had some good heel comedy moments with the 87 looking the stronger and more dominant team. The highlight of the match for me was a huge jumping knee from Banks!

The finish came after some chasing and a distraction for ECS to hit water mist and a roll up for the win.

Rob Lias Vs David Francisco – 2⭐

Lias cut a promo before the match, giving it some heat, calling Francisco out for being selfish about his promotion.

The match was mainly David getting worked over and Rob taking the majority of the offence, sandwich with some power strikes Francisco gave out at the start and end of the match.

Francisco locked in a submission and Rob taped out, a good match that kept the crowd into the show.

The Super Chapman Bros. Vs The 0121 – 2.5⭐

After Deriss’ entrance rap, there was a good comedy bit where mad Kurt insisted on rapping better. To his credit, Mad Kurt wasn’t awful at it.

The match began and it was heavy on comedy spots, the 0121 took most the offence and no sold a lot of the Chapman’s soft strikes. At one point Deriss was chased off leaving Moloney to take them both on, and doing so. Deriss returned with water and a sandwich.

Towards the end Mad Kurt hit a flurry of attacks which was followed up by a huge Drilla from Dan Moloney to get the win. A fun match, but in my opinion one that went maybe 5 mins too long. Also, I love Dan Moloney, but think he works much better as a heel, but that’s just me.

Oli Peace & Bullit Vs Alexander & Taylor – 3⭐

This was my first time seeing everyone in this match, and it was my personal match of the night. I love Bullit! Alexander and Taylor I think were both great babyfaces in peril, and Peace was a fun Heel hiding behind his monster.

This for me put over Peace as a new heel force to be reckoned with, behind the muscle of Bullit. Alexander and Taylor both played their part great, with some nice comeback moments and fight backs.

But Bullit was too strong, and frequently threw one of the faces into the corner, asking for the other to be tagged in. Then when I couldn’t love him more, he hit a huge spine buster. Bullit got the win with a big powerbomb.

Ava White Vs Amira – 2.5⭐

Amira finally got booked, and she was great. In full Alex Windsor cosplay, she got the whole crowd behind her. For White to attack straight away and get a very very close pinfall (which I fully bought).

Ava White worked the majority of the match, working slowly and methodically. Amira had a good comeback moment, hitting some good moves on the outside and getting pumped up.

The end came very quickly though, White just pinned her all of a sudden. I think this could have been a great match if there was more of a 3rd act to it, especially after the hot start.

Destination Everywhere Vs Breaks & Bryant – 3⭐

The main event was great, and everyone came out better than going in, with the offence being shared pretty evenly throughout the match.

With multiple high spots throughout the match, one including a suicide dive into the recycling bin, it was mainly the final few minutes that had the main story beat.

Mills and Breaks will challenge for the first Purpose Championship next month, and Mills couldn’t pin Breaks. They wiped Nino out after a tombstone on the outside with Oku’s top rope dive.

When it was practically 2 on 1, Breaks was hit with move after move, and kept kicking out. Until he managed to roll Connor Mills up, Nino held Oku and the babyfaces won.

After the match, the handsome bastards tag team ran down to attack the faces, Connor unveiled the new belt and posed with it. The attack continued for the locker room to empty and save Breaks and Nino.

Progress – Super Strong Style 16 (Day 3) 05/06/2022 – 3⭐

This was my first Progress Wrestling show live, and I had a great time. There was a real party atmosphere, which was guided along by Simon Miller’s interactions in-between each match.

Team Damo Vs Team RSP – 2⭐

This was great, silly, sports entertainment. From the football being introduced to all the picks everything was well done. Crowley coming out first and waiting to be picked also added that extra comedy. This was my first time seeing Crowley and his entrance and look was awesome!

After Damo picked Jody Fleisch, Maggot and Callum Newman and Rickey Shane Page chose Dean Allmark, Charlie Dempsey and finally, forced to take Crowley, the teams had a photo op with the champions League music playing.

The match began with each team’s opposite styles facing off. Once Crowley got in, and beaten up, his team left him for dead for a while.

I’d never seen Dempsey before either and he was awesome, really quick and technical ability. After a few high spots from Newman, RSP was about to get the pin when Crowley tagged in and dropkicked him out of the ring, and stole the win. He was then chased off by his team.

Warren Banks Vs Johnny Progress – 2.5⭐

The mood then shifted as the first semi final for the Super Strong Style tournament and Progress World Championship began. The match stakes and star power of Johnny Progress really made this a big match feel.

The match began with a good feeling out process and nice slow build. They kept the fun party feel of the night with Johnny hiding under the ring, leading the crowd to chant “Johnny Missing”.

Sadly the finish fell a bit flat for me, and the two botch a top rope Spanish fly from Johnny to Banks which I think would’ve led into the finish. They got back up and did the spot in the opposite corner. Banks picked up the win shortly after but the momentum was halted.

Gene Munny Vs Chris Ridgeway – 3.5⭐

The second semi final was next, and these are two more guys I’ve not seen before. Gene’s gimmick, I won’t lie, didn’t get it at the start. But as the match progressed I got more and more behind him to win.

Ridgeway’s look is really cool, a proper badass technician. And his kicks are awesome. He worked over Genes padded and taped up knee for the match. Ridgeway then took off the boot and all support on Munny’s knee, putting on a figure four.

Gene had some good comeback moments and played a great baby-face in peril. He had some great near fall kick outs, but after a punt kick to the head, brainbuster then a knee bar locked in from Ridgeway, Gene passed out. And the final will be Chris Ridgeway Vs Warren Banks.

Kanji Vs Giselle Shaw (c) – 2 out of 3 falls Progress Women’s Championship – 3.5⭐

The promo before this match was awesome. Telling the story of Shaw targeting Kanji’s injured arm in their last match. This led into this match with multiple angles and story beats.

The first fall was almost immediate, with Shaw locking in an arm bar on the injured arm for Kanji to tap instantly.

The match then didn’t slow down from here, with Shaw taking most of the offence and Kanji having some nice comeback moments. After Giselle threw Kanji into the chairs (Kanji FLEW!), some massive strikes and a lovely top rope corkscrew followed by a very near fall, Kanji rolled Shaw up for the second fall.

The final fall came after Shaw teased the arm bar again, after taking all the tape and padding off (a theme for the night apparently). Officials and crew rushed to ringside to try to stop her. The distraction and taunting allowed Kanji to put the triangle choke on and tap Giselle Shaw out.

A really great match to crown a new champion, and one of my favourite women’s matches I’ve seen live. I’m not sure why Shaw didn’t just lock in the arm bar with everyone ringside, but it did add some realism to the match.

Spike Trivet Promo

Spike then came out too a very hostile reaction. Chants and Boos echoed around the electric ballroom. He paid the crew to protect him (this was odd but fine) and called out Tom Dawkins.

Dawkins came out, and Spike offered him the proposal that he can still wrestle in Progress, after losing their “Loser leaves Progress – I Quit” Match, but without the Cara Noir gimmick.

Tom Dawkins replied “yeah fine”. This did exactly what it set out to, Spike is a HUGE heel, and it progressed the next story beat for these two.

Lykos Gym Vs Jack Evans & Aramis – 3⭐

I love Lykos Gym, great look, awesome music and very good funny heels. It was also nice seeing Jack Evans live, I always thought he was great in AEW.

This was a good place for this match after the serious promo before, it started with Lykos asking for a dance off. The music began, Evans started dancing and Lykos attacked both him and Aramis. A very fun start which got good heat from the crowd.

The match featured lots of fun high spots and great heel work from both Lykos’. A highlight being Evans jumping off the turnbuckle, onto a lykos who was on Aramis’ shoulders, and jumping off lykos to do a corkscrew on the second lykos on the floor.

Aramis then got both Lykos’ onto his shoulders, did an aeroplane spin into a bomb. Picking up the pin, a very fun high flying match.

Tate Mayfair Vs Anthony Ogogo – 2.5⭐

This match began with Mayfair interrupting Simon Miller, to say Ogogo has no showed. This led to Ogogo’s music to hit and the match followed the format of Mayfair being a coward heel occasionally getting some offence in.

Mayfair hit a huge coast to coast elbow drop on Ogogo who was in the tree of woe. He then continued to work Ogogos left arm, causing him to not hit some moves.

This match’s purpose felt like a way to showcase Ogogo’s moveset and boost his stat power, which it did very well and Mayfair was a near perfect opponent for this.

After Ogogo picked up the win, Mayfair kept talking smack, leading him to get beat up twice more, and the GB and Progress flags placed over him.

Luke Jacobs Vs Axel Tischer – Atlas Championship – 4⭐

This lived up to the Super Strong Style name. These boys slapped and chopped the life out of one another. Another theme from the night was front row chair spots, and we got two in this match. Jacobs threw Axel into two different blocks of chairs.

The two hit some huge power moves on each other and the crowd was hot for it all. They had great sequences together and lovely reversal spots, which led to multiple near falls (which I bought a few of them).

The finish came after Jacobs hit a massive lariat on Axel and got the 3 count. A show of respect after, and Luke Jacobs gets better and better each time I see him I feel.

Warren Banks Vs Chris Ridgeway – Progress World Championship – 4⭐

The final of Super Strong Style 16, and world championship match. There was a big match feel for this one, which elevated after Banks walked out second, stood on the stage and threw his ice pack off his shoulder.

Chris Ridgeway attacked Banks behind his back to start the main event and he kept the momentum for almost the whole match. We got some more chair spots, as the two worked their way to the main stage.

Ridgeway hit a thudding suplex onto Banks on the stage, and just kept working him over. Banks got some brief comeback moments but this felt like a dominating performance.

There was a lovely flurry of kicks from Ridgeway, then a massive slap to Banks face which echoed round the room. At this moment I, and I think most of the crowd, suspected Banks to have a huge comeback to be crowned the new champ.

At one point Ridgeway took his wrist tape off and used it to choke Banks, it was supposed to be out of the refs vision but I’m pretty sure he saw and just didn’t DQ. This was the beginning of the end, as Banks laid on the floor he took 3 huge punt kicks to the head, Chris Ridgeway rolled him over for the pin and got the win.

The crowd was stunned and almost silent for a few seconds, the whole match felt like it was building up to a big baby face comeback for a feel good moment to end the show. This was brilliantly done though and really got over how vicious Ridgeway is.

The post match saw Gene Munny come out on a crutch to embrace Banks, who was still laying in a streamer filled ring. Bringing the show to close on an emotional moment for those two.

Rev Pro – Epic Encounter 2022 22/05/22 – 4⭐

Epic Encounter was indeed just that, EPIC! After the last minute changes due to Jeff Cobb’s injury and Will Ospreay’s kidney infection, there was an odd feeling heading into the show. But that was quickly proved wrong after the first match.

Michael Oku (c) Vs Connor Mills – Undisputed British Cruiserweight Championship – 4⭐

As openers go, this was near perfect. The combination of the long term story being told, and the last match in York Hall was Oku Vs Ospreay, there was a big match feel to this.

The two began slow, showing respect for each other, with Oku having slight arrogant moments. This boiled over into a fun fast paced match. I think Connor showed alot of people (including me) that he can go up against main event guys and not look out of place. The highlight for me, catching Oku’s springboard on the outside, then using the apron to hit a massive TKO.

As the match came to an end, Mills had a massive kick out at 1, there was a false finish for Mills, picking up a visual win while Oku had his leg under the ropes. This allowed Oku to pick up the win of the distraction with a roll up Frankensteiner.

The post match saw Mills walking out on Oku, and a promo where Michael Oku calls out Suzuki setting up the new Main Event. Oku is proving he is one of the best in British wrestling.

Yota Tsuji, Shota Umino & Sunshine Machine Vs Smokin’ Aces and Lykos Gym – 3.5⭐

These 8 men put on a show! Organised chaos is the best way to describe it, and a welcomed debut for the Smokin’ Aces.

Lykos Gym continue to grow on me, with a horrific looking spot, stretching an exercise band from the ropes to the second row. Pinging back and slapping Mambo in the face with a huge sound.

Multiple big dives from almost everyone later, another exercise band to TK blinded him enough to headbutt Yota. This caused the team to implode, with Umino and Tsuji walking to the back. Sunshine Machine fought hard but the Smokin’ Aces picked up the win.

RKJ Vs Aaron Henare – 3⭐

The first late change of the night, and it did not disappoint. Henare came out in full blade cosplay and looked awesome. The match started with a bang, as the two brawled around the ring and crashed through the ringside fences, and the wall of York hall.

Once back in the ring it was a lot of back and fourth power moves, including the two trading punt kicks to the back. As it was heading towards the end, RKJ won with a quick roll up. It was very out of nowhere and I personally would’ve preferred seeing RKJ winning strong building up to Ospreay.

After the match, Ricky called out Ospreay. I would love to see this be the start of RKJ having to beat multiple or all the United Empire members just to get to Ospreay.

Robbie X Vs Luke Jacobs – 3.5⭐

I love Robbie X’s move set, he moves so fast around the ring. Luke Jacobs came out with his tag mate Ethan Allen.

The match started with a ridiculous bump for Robbie X, has Jacobs hit a snake eyes like move into the crowd. What followed were some good sequences of Jacobs strong style against Robbie’s high flying speed.

Jacobs hit a huge lariat and pined Robbie X. A fun match but I felt it lacked stakes compared to the other matches on the card.

Dan Moloney Vs Gabriel Kidd – 3.5⭐

Gabriel Kidd is BACK! Both he and Moloney showed off their new hair which was lovely. Moloney cut a promo to be answered by a returning Kidd.

These two men slapped the crap out of each other, and I bloody loved it. Moloney is one of my favourite heels and I think it’s a matter of time before he becomes more well known outside the UK.

After trading big moves, Kidd hit the corkscrew tombstone and got the win. The two traded one more slap each and shook hands to show respect. Kidd gestures for the belt, placing another target on Ospreays back.

Alex Windsor (c) Vs Kylie Rae – Undisputed British Women’s Championship – 3.5⭐

Alex Windsor keeps getting better, I’ve really enjoyed her matches recently and her move set looks great. Up against a big name like Kylie made her look like a proper star. But after a while, I found myself getting annoyed at the smiley gimmick, it’s just not for me.

The match began with a good slow build, both women in a feeling out process. It gradually built with moves getting bigger and some lovely transitions into submissions.

After Windsor survived the cross face multiple times, she locked in the sharpshooter and picked up the win. Windsor’s reign has been great and continues to get better. This will really put over whoever ends up taking the belt off her.

Aussie Open Vs The Velocities – 5⭐

Go watch this match, and watch it again. This was awesome and one of my favourite tag matches ever. Both teams came out to huge pops and it felt like the show hit that main event period.

The show started in 3rd gear with both members of velocities hitting avalanche Frankensteiners on both Kyle and Mark. From there it just continued to get faster, harder and bigger. With multiple dives, and a gruesome spot with Davis throwing one of the Velocities boys into the ring post head first.

The final 5 mins had multiple false finishes and near falls, I bought a few of them. The end came after Aussie Open hit their finisher from the middle rope, and a standing ovation for both teams.

Minoru Suzuki Vs Michael Oku – 4⭐

Seeing Suzuki live was freaking awesome, hearing 1,500 people singing KAZE NI NARE gave me goosebumps. The two faced off and both ripped off their hoods simultaneously to a huge pop.

The match began with Oku doing his test of strength, switch hands before Suzuki could take hold. This led to a brutal chop exchange which Suzuki definitely won.

Suzuki continued to take most of the offence with Oku brilliantly selling everything. He managed to attack Suzuki’s knee which played into a few spots, including Minoru trying to run on it and pulling up short.

The end came with a combination of power moves from Suzuki, and picking up the victory after hitting the Gotch piledriver. A great main event, made better knowing how last minute this match would’ve been put together.

Afterwards Suzuki called out Ospreay, and Connor Mills came out to embrace Oku, setting them up for the British Tag League.

Rev Pro – Live in London 61 08/05/22 – 3⭐

Back at the 229 for the final show before Epic Encounter! A great crowd made even louder with frequent fire alarms at the start of the show.

David Francisco Vs Remi Adetunji – 2⭐

The opener set the pace for the night with hard hitting action. It was my first time seeing Remi but he came out with lots of energy and the crowd responded well to this.

These two put on a good match, getting over Remi’s move set, and him picking up the win with a spine buster (and I love a spine buster).

If treated right Remi could go far, a good look and nice move set. David played his part well and continues to help others get over.

Lykos Gym Vs Callum Newman & JJ Gale – 2.5⭐

Callum Newman is FAST! Fantastic and very exciting to watch. Lykos gym came out and worked the crowd from the start. Playing up to the chants and using multiple heelish tactics.

After a few near falls, Lykos gym went to their ‘man bag’ and used an exercise band on Newman to pick up the win. A good match which got both teams over.

Destination Everywhere Promo

Oku and Mills came out to put over the Tag League starting in a few weeks. Oku was then asked who he would face at Epic Encounter on the 22nd May. Mills grabbed the mic and challenged him for the Cruiserweight Championship.

The seeds of descent have played for months now so the match makes sense. I can see this being the start of a longer blood feud, but for now it seems as if it’s just a tag team seeing “who the better man is”. The promo did the job and the crowd seemed excited to see this match.

Chuck Mambo Vs Shota Umino – 2.5⭐

Furthering the Legion storyline Gideon Grey came out to introduce Shota, with Umino continuing to ignore him.

In one of the more colourful matches with Mambos glitter and Uminos tights, these two also put on a very good match. Mambos high flying moves against the Japanese style of Shota contrasted well.

Shota picked up the win with the Death Rider, leading to Gideon giving his cane to Mambo. This tricked Shota thinking Mambo was about to attack him and the two brawled to the back. This could’ve been done differently in my opinion as it makes Shota look a bit foolish, it was obviously Gideon’s cane.

RKJ Vs Lee Hunter – 3.5⭐

This match started in 4th gear and did not slow down. It started with Hunter getting chopped then running through the crowd, being chased and chopped by RKJ.

Once back in the ring they continued to hit big move after big move. The biggest being back on the floor, the crowd had to move from their seats, for RKJ to hit a huge suplex onto the empty seats. A massive bump for Hunter.

They then teased Hunter hitting a superplex from the top rope to the floor, but RKJ countered and showed a lot of strength lifting Hunter above his head and crashing him into the ring.

RKJ picked up the victory and signalled for the belt, hinting towards a future Ospreay re-match.

Robbie X Vs Joshua James – 2.5⭐

A real David Vs Goliath story, because James is a big lad! Throughout the match they teased Robbie lifting his opponent and kept building to it.

After avoiding James and hitting quick strikes, Robbie finally got Joshua over his head, then hit a cutter to get the win. A solid match to put Robbie’s speed and strength over.

Alex Windsor & Maya Matthews Vs Rhia O’Reilly & Nightshade -2⭐

The majority of this match had Matthews as the baby-face in peril, and this got her over hard when she started her comebacks.

Windsor and O’Reilly eventually brawled out the ring and to the back, leaving Nightshade and Matthews on the ring. Matthews managed to get a roll up victory to a good pop.

TK Cooper Vs Yota Tsuji – 3⭐

Strong strikes! These two had multiple great strike exchanges. Both men were over with the crowd with chants for TK and Tsuji.

The ending played into the Legion story as Yota was setting up for a move, Gideon jumped on the apron to hand the cane to him. Yota ran straight past TK and nailed Gideon. This allowed TK to get the quick pin on a distracted Tsuji.

After Gideon jumped TK, which led to Yota saving him. Mambo ran out for the save, which led to Gideon going back to get Shota to come out. Gideon offered Shota to join Legion temporarily with Yota going into the Tag League. Umino accepted.

Once again, something felt a bit off having Yota save Gideon, and Shota just believing everything Gideon says and does. But Yota and Shota teaming is always great.

United Empire Vs Destination Everywhere & Like Jacobs – 4⭐

A fantastic main event. Filled with star power and long term storytelling. Oku’s entrance was interrupted by Connor Mills, furthering their tension. Then United Empire came out and the whole room’s mood shifted.

Ospreays presence is enough to get him booed out most building, with Aussie Open standing either side of him, they just look and feel on another level.

All 6 men gave it everything, with power bombs into the brick walls and a top rope moonsault to the floor. The finish came with Ospreay hitting the hidden blade on Jacobs.

After the match, Aussie Open cut a promo on Velocity to build towards Epic Encounter. Then Ospreay spoke about Suzuki, until Kaze Ni Nara started playing.

For a split second I thought it could actually be Minoru Suzuki, then realised I was probably being worked, for Mad Kurt to come out.

Ospreay cut a promo on Kurt asking him to leave, for Kurt to respond “Ok Boomer”. A chair shot to the head followed, busting Mad Kurt open. Newman and Gale ran out for the save along with the contenders for them to be taken out by Aussie Open and Ospreay.

RKJ was the last to come out, with Ospreay offering him a rematch, if he could defeat Jeff Cobb at Epic Encounter. A good way to announce the match and it adds another match with high stakes.

Rev Pro – Day of Reckoning 3 09/04/22 – 3⭐

The evening show from Huntingdon had lots of story going into it set up earlier in the day, and it did not disappoint. A combination of great in-ring work and fan interaction resulted in a good night.

Gideon Grey Vs David Francisco – 2.5⭐

Starting the show with Gideon got the crowd involved straight away. He came out to thunderous boos and continued to get heat throughout the match.

Once again, David was a great baby face to get behind and had another close count out spot (more of this please David).

A simple match of heel works face built to Gideon getting his comeuppance. However Gideon hit a low blow behind the refs back to get the cheated win.

Alex Windsor Vs La Taylor – 2.5⭐

La Taylor came out to a quiet reaction but managed to get more and more boos as the night went on. Her debut Rev Pro match allowed her to show she can go toe to toe with the champ and not look out of place.

The two had some good back and forth, Windsor showing why she is currently to top women in the company.

Windsor got the win, and left Taylor to walk to the back after. This gave her a chance to get some more heat on exit.

Luke Jacobs Vs Dan Maloney – 3.5⭐

The start of this match had Maloney working the crowd and avoiding to start the match. This was followed by hard hitting action and more heel shenanigans from Maloney.

Jacobs showed off his strength throughout the match, and had everyone in the room behind him to win.

After a series of multiple near falls, fast paced action and Maloney insulting the fans some more, he managed to pick up the huge win in a great match.

Shota Umino Vs Connor Mills – 3⭐

This was a match that had Connors high flying skill take on the technical strong style of Shota. And the match clicked at several points.

Once again, plenty of near falls and false finishes all built up to Shota gaining the win. This lead into the post match as Gideon Grey and Lucian Phillips came out to offer Umino a place in Legion.

Umino declined which led to Lucian and Grey beating down Mills. Yota was first to come out for the save, then Oku came out to attack Yota in some miss-communication.

Shota came back for the save and led Yota to the back whilst Legion continued the beat down, which led into the next match.

Michael Oku Vs Lee Hunter (British Cruiserweight Championship) – 3.5⭐

Oku, still laid out in the ring, Hunter slowly came out with the stolen belt, and gave a huge belt shot to Oku’s head.

After a few minutes Oku gave the thumbs up and the match began, and Hunter hit big move after big move at the start which resulted in multiple late kick outs.

The longer the match went, the more offence Oku managed to get in. Failing to lock in the half crab throughout, he got Hunter in it at the end, forcing the tap out.

Sunshine Machine Vs Robbie X & RKJ – 3.5⭐

This was my most anticipated match of the day, and it did not disappoint. All 4 of these guys started the match at a quick pace and didn’t let up.

The highlight of the match when Robbie X and Mambo were both holding the other team members stood in the middle of the top rope, and all 4 men started a hockey fight.

This fast paced match included high spots and false finishes, until Maloney, Hunter, and Pure Beef ran down to the interference. This resulted in a no contest and a stare down with RKJ offering an 8 man tag. The heels declined and the show ended.

The no contest allowed for the story to progress but hindered the match for me.

Rev Pro – Live in Huntingdon 4 09/04/22 – 3⭐

The show that started the blog! Sat in the front row in the Commentation Hall was great fun. It’s a small venue allowing for the wrestlers to really interact with the crowd and us fans to feel the impact of every bump.

This was the first of two shows on Saturday, allowing for lots of story telling between matches to set up the evening show nicely.

Dan Maloney Vs Robbie X – 3.5⭐

Two guys that make me more of a fan each time I see them wrestle. Maloney’s heel work improves each time, the hall was a perfect venue for him to chat to the crowd and build heat easily. Up against one of the best baby faces in Rev Pro created a fantastic clash of characters.

These two gelled well, from Maloney’s hard chops and crowd work to Robbie’s high flying move set this was entertaining throughout.

The end came after a back and forth, Robbie began building momentum, climbing to the top rope until Maloney shoved the ref into the ropes. Losing balance, Robbie fell and Maloney hit him with the Drilla.

Lee Hunter Vs RKJ – 3⭐

Ricky Knight Jr is a great ‘tough guy’ face, verging on the tweener side at times. Up against the arrogant Hunter made for some great moments in this match.

It was fast paced and involved some very good sequences throughout, including lots of believable near falls towards the end.

The finish involved Dan Maloney saving Hunter, followed by a beat down on RKJ. This brought Robbie X out for the save, as the faces then chased the heels out the room and onto the streets. The no contest helped the story progress, but sadly left a great match unfinished.

Lucian Phillips Vs David Francisco – 2.5⭐

First things first, the legions music is awesome! Lucian is a great monster heel, with big power moves, an awesome chop, and able to work the crowd well responding to the chants.

David plays the part of the baby face in peril perfectly. I became a big fan of his in Southampton during his match against Dan Moloney. I hope every match he has includes a close count out spot!

This was essentially a squash match but both men got good offence in and included some great false finishes for David that I bought.

Luke Jacobs Vs Yota Tsuji – 2.5⭐

This was a shift in match style, as both men began the opening sequence showing off their technical side.

Throughout the match, Yota would seem conflicted about using heelish tactics, playing into the Legion storyline and finish of the match. Jacobs showcased his stiff chops and power moves, including a huge spine buster.

After multiple near falls, they were both on the top rope, until Gideon Grey interfered instructing Yota to get down. This distraction caused Jacobs to get the upper hand and tap out Yota.

Pure Beef Vs Destination Everywhere – 2.5⭐

This was my first time seeing Pure Beef, and they are exactly that, BEEFY! Fighting the quick paced Oku and Mills, this match was truly David Vs Goliath.

Oku continues to connect with the crowd and get everyone in the room to root for him. After being worn down, he gave Mills the hot tag and the match didn’t slow down from this point. Even Blake and Kroos showed they aren’t just big guys but can keep up with the Cruiserweight division.

This match was used to showcase Pure Beef and set up the championship match for the evening show. When Hunter came out to steal Oku’s Title and was chased off by the champion. Leaving Mills to be hit by a wicked Top Rope tag finisher and take the pin.

Pure Beef continued the beat down, which left the tag champs Sunshine Machine running down for the save, building to their inevitable match in the future.

Alex Windsor Vs Lana Austin

Sadly the main event was finished early due to a shoot injury Lana picked up.

Before this, Lana was showing good heel work, from interactions with the crowd and in between the ropes. Windsor remains awesome, easily getting cheers and people behind her.

The match started with a slow build, Austin working Windsor over. Then just as Alex started to get her comeback and put some offence in, she connected with a huge stiff knee to Austin’s face.

The ref threw up the X and medics came over straight away, Windsor knelt next to her and helped her to the back. A sad way to end a fun show but hopefully Lana is back in the ring soon.
